V2900 dress

This is my third V2900 dress from Vogue patterns. I really love the first and second ones, which can be seen here and here, respectively. They're probably my best favorite own made dresses in the history because of their fit and comfortableness, and indeed they were quite often used on the hot summer days. At the end of the last summer, the one in white linen went rotten because of my heavy use, at last. Although the brown one was intact, I eagerly felt that I needed a replacement for upcoming summer. Maybe two copies of replacements! Or three copies!

Anyway, I made another one in a red African waxed-print fabric and here you see the result. I think I will need another one in a plain solid color too. In my opinion, those long and cozy dresses in pretty fabrics are super must-have items in every summer. I will happily wear almost same dresses in all summer, do I think there is anything wrong with it? Nope!

I am really happy with my new V2900 and it brings me a huge smile.

Have a happy weekend, everyone!
I hope you're sewing something which brings you a very happy giggle.

Love,
yoshimi

  1. This is lovely, what a great shape and fabric choice! It looks like it would be perfect for a hot summer's day. I've been wearing the same 3 or 4 summer dresses for the past 3 summers and would agree with you - there's no shame in that! I really love your shoes here too!

So much more inspiring for summer than the cover example.

    2. Yes, Merche, it is that pattern. I just want to let you know that I cut the pattern using the petite line, and it may have changed the style of the dress a bit...

  23. This is also one of my favorite dresses. However, I have lost a considerable amount of weight and am trying to decide whether it will be worth the time to take it apart and alter the size or to just make a new one from the start. I like the fabric you chose. This pattern could be made over and over yet look different each time.

  25. Hi - just found your blog thru Pam. Your dress is beautiful! Where do you get your fabric? I just came back from Japan (my husband's aunt lives in Hongo near Hirishima), and I was amazed by Yuzawaya in Tokyo.

    1. Hello, Dr Fun, thank you for your kind comment! I bought the fabric from a Japanese internet fabric shop "Pole pole kanga shop" (http://www.polepolekanga.com/) that sells African fabrics. Actually, I heard that those fabrics are mainly produced in Holland and imported to everywhere else in the world, so I think there may be same type of shops in your area too.

  26. Great dress! I love this new version, it's perfect for summer with this bright color. Now I'm thinking I should try this pattern next summer (I'm pregnant right now so it wouldn't fit this year). It seems very comfortable indeed, and yet remains elegant.
